Bird Facts

Birds are warm blooded animals with feathers and wings. They also have a beak, and a tongue, but no teeth.

What do birds eat? Most birds eat insects. Some birds, like owls and eagles are meat eaters. Other birds, such as hummingbirds mostly eat plants. There are also some birds that eat both plants and meat and A few kinds of birds, like the toucan, eat fruits.

Why do birds have feathers?
Birds have feathers for several resons. One, of course is flying. Their flight feathers grow in their wings and tails. They also have soft down feathers that grow very close to their skin to help keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Many birds have fancy feathers for attracting a mate. Male birds are often more brightly colored than female birds. This is to help them attract a femal mate.

Birds' Mouths:
Birds of today do not have teeth, but don't think they cannot bite! Most birds have very sharp beaks and can peck pretty hard!

How do birds get around?
Most birds can fly but not alll flying animals are birds. Besides flying, some birds can also run and swim. Ostriches, for example, cannot fly, but they are the fastest two-legged runner of all the animals on the Earth. They are also the largest birds on the Earth.

Amazing facts:
Some birds, like eagles, have eyesight that is five or six times better than that of the average human. They use this to find their prey from a distance. Other birds also have very good eyesight. They need it for finding food.

Printing Instructions:

Once you have decided which pages you want to print out the hard part will be over!

1. Click on a thumbnail of a picture you want to see. If you like what you see and you would like to print it out follow the next few steps.
2. Go to the FILE menu
3. Select the PRINT option
4. Check the settings for the printer. You can use the gray scale or black only setting to save on colored ink.
5. Decide how many copies of the image you want.
6. Press Print

Then enjoy coloring your pictures! Remember, the pictures may not look very clear as thumbnails, but when you click on them they will clear up and you will see what you will get when you print.
